Armil Sammoon
Armil Sammoon is a fifth generation gem merchant who has played an integral role in the Sri Lankan market by spearheading the gemstone industry towards global innovation and development. As a board member of the National Gem & Jewellery Authority, Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Association, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka and FACETS, he has tirelessly projected Sri Lanka as a key source nation for gemstones with sustainable production.
He is the Chairman of the Sapphire Capital Group and current GIA Alumni Chapter President in Sri Lanka. In a professional capacity, he has contributed articles, conceptualised and appeared in numerous documentaries on gemmology featured on NOVA PBS, BBC and CCTV networks respectively. Armil is also a founding member of the first Fashion and Jewellery League which was crystalised in May 2018.
