Martin P. Steinbach

With a passion for gemstones, Martin P. Steinbach, AG, FGG, ASG, traveled to Bangkok in 1982 and was the first German to graduate from the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) as an Accredited Gemologist. He then went on to graduate from the Deutsche Gemmologische Gesellschaft (DGemG) as a gemologist and diamond expert. In 1984, he established his own gem trading and gemology consulting company in Idar-Oberstein and, in 2016, he received the title of Accredited Senior Gemologist from AGA in the USA. After three decades of work, he published his first book Asterism – Gems with a Star (a definitive and weighty tome at 900 pages, 4kg, on asterism), followed in 2023 by Star Gems – A Fascinating World.
