JC was a guide and inspiration during my journey at the ICA, and for 14+ years on the board of directors. Behind his serious and strongwilled personality, there was a loyal friend with a big heart. I had come to appreciate and admire his vast knowledge and experience, and he became not only an advisor but a close friend. Despite his desire to retire from the board when I took over as President of the ICA, he remained active only to be my advisor and for as long as needed. I felt deeply at his passing. The entire trade community must recognize his outstanding journey, dedication, and contribution to the development of the colored gemstone industry. Jean Claude Michelou is and will always be greatly missed.
